How to reach us
Arriving by car
From the Messina-Catania motorway (A18), take the exit “Taormina”, then follow the signs “Taormina centro”. When you arrive at the entrance of the old city center (Porta Messina) turn left in Via Pirandello: Hotel La Pensione Svizzera is at number 26.
Arriving by plane
If you arrive at the airport Catania (CTA) Fontana Rossa (about 70 kms from Taormina) we can organize the pick-up by taxi for € 70,00/one way (2/3 persons) if required (about 60 minutes).
You can go by train from the main station of Catania to the station "Taormina-Giardini". To get to the main station you take the bus or hire a taxi (available at the airport for € 15,00. From the station "Taormina - Giardini" to the hotel either you go by bus (bus terminal) or by taxi (€ 15,00) which can be arranged by us.
You reach Taormina by bus in 1 1/2 or 2 hours. The bus station is situated on the right side of the main building of the airport. From the bus terminal to the hotel "La Pensione Svizzera" you just walk about 200 mt (city direction).
If you arrive at the airport Palermo (PMO ) Punta Raisi (about 270 kms from Taormina).
We can organize the pick-up by taxi for € 430,00/one way if required (about 3 1/2 hours) you reach Taormina by bus changing in Catania (the whole trip will last 4 or 5 hours). From the bus terminal in Taormina to the hotel "La Pensione Svizzera" you just walk about 200 ms (city direction).
You can go by train to Catania or Messina and change there to reach the station "Taormina-Giardini" (about 3 or 4 hours). There you take the bus to Taormina bus terminal or a taxi (can be organized by us and costs € 15,00).
Arriving by train
From the station "Taormina-Giardini" we organize the pick-up by taxi for €15,00/one way if required. Or you go to Taormina by bus. From the bus terminal to the hotel "La Pensione Svizzera" you just go 200 mt. (city direction). |
Parking in Taormina Parking in Taormina can be a difficult task. Public parking areas are limited, and you can find 2 types of parking:
- White stripes: only for Taormina residents and hotel guests providing a parking authorization.
- Blue stripes: for everyone, parking authorization is not required. Approx. Price: 1 €/h (parking meter).
Parking in Taormina City center
"LUMBI" Parking Area Located at the city entrance on the north side of Taormina. From the A18 highway “Catania-Messina”, take the exit "Taormina" and get the parking area driving uphill for about 2 miles. Cost: 12,50€ per day. Price includes the shuttle bus linking Lumbi parking area and "Porta Messina" city gate. (Orange-colored bus) A second bus line, the "Circular line," performs the whole circular path around the city, and stops directly in front of our hotel. Hotel La Pensione Svizzera provides its guests with 10 nearby parking lots. Cost: 12 € per day.
