The rich artistic heritage of Taormina is the result of different cultural influences, starting from the Greeks and Romans, to the Byzantine and Arabs: centuries of civilization responsible of the city’s unique architecture.

The Greek amphitheater (Teatro Greco) - constructed by the Greeks in the 3rd century B.C. on the slopes of Mount Tauro, the largest theater in the Mediterranean is Taormina’s most famous monument and symbol of the city, offering a view or rare beauty of Mount Etna and the seacost.
The theater is still the perfect stage for concerts and international shows, and it’s the site of the annual Taormina FilmFest and International Taormina Summer Festival

St. Niccolò Dome - along Corso Umberto we find Taormina’s Cathedral. The Dome of the city is referred also as the “Cathedral Fortress”; built around 1400 on the ruins of a church of the Middle Ages, the Cathedral shows a Latin Cross plan, with the nave held up by two rows of columns in pink Taormina marble.
The St. Niccolò Dome houses, under its wooden beams and carved corbels, artworks dating back as far as the 15th century.

The Roman Odeon – an architectural work of art built during the Roman colonization. The Odeon, a small theater resembling the architecture of Teatro Greco, dates back to the reign of Cesare Ottaviano Augusto in the 21st century B.C.

Palazzo Corvaja – the most important Medieval construction in Taormina, referred as “The Castle” by the citizens, gives hospitality to the Museum of Anthropology.
